Guide for Councillors on Personal Interests

The Department for Communities and Local Government has issued a guide for councillors on personal interests, which aims to provide practical information about how to be open and transparent about their interests.

This document is called ‘Openness and transparency on personal interests: guidance for councillors’.

Members’ Register of Interests

A councillor is subject to statutory rules which require them to be transparent about the existence of certain financial and personal interests.

These rules restrict participation in the discussion and voting at a meeting that is considering a matter in which they hold a financial or other interest.

The Members’ Register of Interests is available on the Arun District Council website.
