Local Green Space
The National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) includes the concept of a Local Green Space designation. This is a discretionary designation to be made by inclusion within a local development plan or neighbourhood development plan.
The designation should only be used where the land is not extensive, is local in character and reasonably close to the community; and, where it is demonstrably special, for example because of its beauty, historic significance, recreational value (including as a playing field), tranquility or richness of its wildlife
The Parish Council has designated the areas shown as Local Green Space. Proposals for development of these areas will not be permitted except in exceptional circumstances, such as where the development meets specific necessary utility infrastructure needs and no alternative feasible site is available.
This is detailed in Policy CFW4 of the Clapham Parish Neighbourhood Plan.
